Ocean FM × Liam Brady — Regional Sports Awards Guest of Honour

Overview

The campaign

Ocean FM partnered with Sport Endorse to secure Irish football icon Liam Brady as Guest of Honour for its Regional Sports Awards in Sligo. His appearance on 14 October 2023 added national sporting prestige to the celebration and helped the broadcaster recognise the achievements of local and regional sports heroes.

The challenge

Ocean FM was preparing a major regional sports celebration designed to honour athletes, teams, volunteers and sporting figures from across its broadcast area. For the event to feel genuinely significant, the station wanted more than a familiar local presenter: it needed a Guest of Honour whose reputation could elevate the occasion while keeping the focus on the people receiving recognition.

Access was the practical challenge. Securing a nationally recognised sports personality requires the right introduction, availability checks, commercial negotiation and event coordination. The chosen guest also needed broad cross-generational appeal and enough credibility to connect elite sporting achievement with the accomplishments of local heroes. Ocean FM therefore needed a dependable route to the right talent rather than an uncertain sequence of cold approaches and manual follow-ups.

The Sport Endorse solution

Sport Endorse matched Ocean FM with Liam Brady and supported the talent engagement for the awards. A HubSpot Deal titled "Ocean FM Sports Awards Liam Brady (Mark Halton)" records the project, with Trevor Twamley as Deal owner and Mark Halton identified in the client relationship. An internal note dated 30 August 2023 confirms that Liam Brady had been pitched for the engagement and that the event was scheduled for 14 October.

The public Sport Endorse success story confirms that Liam attended as Guest of Honour at the Radisson Hotel in Rosses Point, Sligo. His role was not presented as a detached celebrity appearance. He joined an evening centred on regional sporting achievement and paid tribute to the accomplishments of local sports heroes, giving the awards a stronger link between community sport and internationally recognised excellence.

The internal Deal was created on 15 May 2023, carried a close date of 27 October 2023 and is recorded as "Opportunity Completed." That record, together with the public event account, verifies that the engagement progressed from talent sourcing and scheduling to a completed live appearance. Commercial figures and invoicing information have been excluded from this public-facing case study.

Athlete fit

Liam Brady was a strong strategic fit because his career is recognised far beyond one club, county or sporting generation. Sport Endorse describes him as an Irish football legend who competed at the highest level in England and Italy and represented Ireland internationally. That combination gave Ocean FM a guest with immediate name recognition, authentic sporting authority and relevance to an awards audience celebrating ambition, consistency and achievement.

His presence also supported the tone of the event. The Regional Sports Awards were intended to place local accomplishments on a prestigious stage, not overshadow them. Brady's role as Guest of Honour allowed Ocean FM to add stature while directing attention back toward the honourees. This was particularly appropriate for an event celebrating many sports and levels of participation rather than promoting a single commercial campaign or product.

Deliverables

  • The available public and internal records confirm the following event structure and deliverables:
  • Ocean FM's requirement for a nationally recognised Guest of Honour translated into a targeted athlete and sports-personality search.
  • Liam Brady identified, approached and secured through Sport Endorse for the Regional Sports Awards.
  • Guest-of-Honour appearance delivered on Saturday, 14 October 2023.
  • Live participation delivered at the Radisson Hotel in Rosses Point, Sligo.
  • Liam Brady's presence integrated into the celebration and recognition of local and regional sports heroes.
  • Talent engagement recorded as completed in HubSpot and published by Sport Endorse as an event success story.

Results

Verified campaign-level attendance, media reach, social impressions and engagement figures were not available in the records reviewed, so none have been estimated. The strongest measurable outcomes are operational: one nationally recognised Guest of Honour secured, one live regional awards event delivered, one confirmed event date and venue, and one completed internal talent engagement.

“No direct testimonial from Ocean FM, Mark Halton or Liam Brady was available in the sources reviewed. The clearest public trust signal is Sport Endorse's account that Liam's presence added prestige to the evening as he paid tribute to the achievements of local sports heroes. The completed Deal and published event record provide the verifiable evidence behind that statement. 1 Irish football icon → 1 regional awards stage → national prestige focused on local sporting achievement.”
